WWE is considering having the 43-year-old “edgier” superstar move forward on RAW. The star in question is Shinsuke Nakamura.
Tonight’s edition of WWE RAW takes place at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta. The show is completely sold out as the company is on its way to SummerSlam 2023 on August 5. While many high-profile matches seem to be gearing up for the premium live event, one veteran may have gotten a gimmick change.
According to WWE Insider Boozer Ruslyn via PWMania, Shinsuke Nakamura is ready to adopt an “edgier” stance starting on RAW tonight. Nakamura has achieved success in WWE so far and won the men’s Royal Rumble match in 2018.
However, he was unable to defeat AJ Styles at WrestleMania 34 and has not been able to return to a main event spot on the card since then. His last televised victory occurred on the June 5 edition of RAW, where he defeated Ricochet via disqualification.
Shinsuke Nakamura recently had a hilarious interaction with Judgment Day’s Rhea Ripley on the July 4th edition of RAW.
Nakamura grappled Damian Priest in a singles match, but the disgraced archer was victorious. During the match, Nakamura walked out of the ring and approached World Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley.
The veteran danced in front of the champ before blowing a kiss to Ripley. Dominic Mysterio immediately got upset and tried to catch the imaginary kiss in the air. Mysterio then hilariously threw the kiss in Shinsuke Nakamura’s direction.
The Japanese superstar left NJPW to sign with the promotion in 2016. He defeated Sami Zayn in his debut match at TakeOver: Dallas and went on to defeat Samoa Joe at TakeOver: Brooklyn II. The veteran hasn’t featured much as a main event talent on the main roster, but a change in attitude might be just what he needs.
