Bharatiya Janata Party leader and former MP Kirit Somaiya stoked the flames of opposition in Maharashtra on Tuesday over an alleged video that showed him in an equal position with a woman.
The video clip was broadcast on Monday on the Marathi TV channel Lokshahi.

Somaya said in a tweet on Twitter Tuesday morning, “A video clip was shown of me on a news channel. I alleged that I harassed several women and many of these videos are available and I have complaints against me. I have not abused any women. Ask @Dev_Fadnavis to investigate these Claims and fact-checking videos.”
Shortly after the video clip aired on the Lokshahi channel, several leaders of the Shiv Sena-UBT and the pro-Sharad Pawar NCP faction criticized Soumya. They claimed that there were many similar videos and that the video broadcast by the news channel was just one of many videos.
In recent years, Soumaya has targeted opposition leaders for alleged fraud and wrongdoing, asking the authorities to take action against the Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress leaders who were part of the Maha Vikas Agadi government between 2019 and 2022.
Agencies contacted by Soumya included Enforcement Directorate, Economic Crimes Wing, Anti-Corruption Bureau, Registrar of Companies, Income Tax Department, Maharashtra Coastal District Administration Authority, Serious Fraud Investigation Bureau. On social media, he has been posting updates on the status of the investigations.
