CNN-News18 has exclusively obtained a copy of the letter sent by the Registrar of Allahabad Center on behalf of the sitting judge to the Director General of Railways regarding the accident.

Facing an inconvenience during his train journey from New Delhi to Prayagraj on July 8, Allahabad High Court Judge Gautam Chaudhary sought an explanation from the railways.

CNN-News18 has exclusively obtained a copy of the letter sent by the Registrar of Allahabad Center on behalf of the sitting judge to the Director General of Railways regarding the accident.

Judge was traveling with his wife on the 12802 Purushottam Express in the first AC coach (PNR: 246-4082004 & HOR No. 639/2023.

It states: “To your kindly note, the Honorable Dr. Gautam Chowdhury, Judge of the Allahabad High Court, encountered an inconvenience during the train journey of his Presidency from New Delhi to Prayagraj.”

‘The train was more than three hours late. Despite repeated alerting to the TTE, no personnel of the GRP were to be found on the bus to fulfill the requirements as His Lordship wished. Furthermore, no Pantry Car workers came to His Lordship to offer refreshments despite calls Further, when the call was made to the pantry car manager Mr. Raj Tripathi, the call was not answered,” the letter reads.

It states that the incident caused “great inconvenience and displeasure to his lordship”.

“In this connection, the honorable judge desired, that explanation may be called upon from the officials at fault of the railway, the staff of the GRP and the manager of the provision car as to the inconvenience caused by his presidency by their conduct and dereliction of duty.”

And she added, “Therefore, I ask you to kindly contact the relevant officials to explain it and send it to this esteemed court so that it can be presented to Rabat for perusal.”
