Official sources said on Wednesday that two forest department staff members were shot dead by unknown gunmen in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

The two employees – Jahangir Ahmed Chishi and Imran Yusuf – noticed suspicious activity in the forested area of ​​Sonabangar near Baghander Bridge while they were patrolling during the night, they said.

Official sources said that unknown persons opened fire on the employees as they approached for inspection, injuring them.

The injured were taken to a local hospital. Yusuf was later taken to SMHS Hospital in Pulwama in critical condition, they said, adding that further details were awaited.
