The Baltimore Orioles acquired sponsor Shintaro Fujinami from the Oakland Athletics before the 2023 MLB trade deadline. This is Fujinami’s first season in the major leagues, and he’s shown flashes of talent. He’s started and closed games, and now he’s taking his talents to the Baltimore Orioles, who are planning on making a playoff push.
So far this season, Fujinami has an ERA of 8.57 and a War of -2.0. These stats obviously don’t jump off the screen at you in a good way, but he only pitched 49.1 rounds. He struggled as a starter but has put together some great rides in relief.
John Heyman was the first to report that this trade was made via Twitter.

Fujinami has a lot of upside and can contribute to the right situation in big ways this season. The Orioles have proven to be excellent at developing players, and we hope they will do the same here.
As nearly every World Series champion team has proven, the promotion is of paramount importance in the playoffs. Now that the Orioles have dethroned the Tampa Bay Rays in the American League East, they are building their bases. Being able to stop an opposing offense in all nine innings is a surefire way to win.
Shintaro Fujinami is expected to remain a relief pitcher for the Orioles, hopefully helping them hold on to their leads. It’s likely that the Orioles haven’t finished adding the pieces before the 2023 trade deadline.
