The National University College of India, Bengaluru, on Friday announced the appointment of the 2023-24 School Review Committee, which includes Professor Timothy Endicott as Chair and Professor Kathryn O’Regan and Professor David B Wilkins as members. The SRC has been appointed by the Chancellor of the University, Chief Justice of India Dr DY Chandrachud, in consultation with the Government of Karnataka.
The SRC’s goal is to conduct a comprehensive review of all aspects of the University and to present its recommendations to the Chancellor in mid-2024. The report will also be made public for the first time. The last report of the Sudanese Red Crescent was issued in 2008 and the first in 1996.
Professor Endicott is the Fennerian Professor of English Law and former Dean of the University of Oxford Law School and Professor Wilkins is the Leicester Kessel Professor of Law at Harvard Law School. Inaugural Director of the Bonavero Institute for Human Rights, Professor O’Regan has been Professor of Human Rights Law at the University of Oxford since 2016.
The SRC is expected to review academic programmes, research projects and faculty recruitment, among other aspects of NLSIU, which will reflect the future of the university as well as legal and political education in India.
Justice Chandrachod also suggested that the SRC review would provide the university with an opportunity for reflection and growth, particularly not only to train students, but also to help academics develop their highest potential.
The SRC will also conduct a comprehensive review of consultations with all University stakeholders over the coming months. “For the first time in university history, the SRC report will be publicly released in accordance with the commitment of the chancellor and members to ensure the highest standards of transparency and to enhance the usefulness of the review,” said a statement from the NLSIU.

Their experience and wisdom will help NLS reflect on our role and contribution to strengthening the rule of law and constitutional democracy in India. As India grows in its global stature, SRC will help NLS reposition itself in the global conversation regarding the future.”
