ISLAMABAD (Pakistan): Pakistani Defense Minister Khawaja Asif said on Friday that ‘Cypher GateIt could lead to the indictment of former Prime Minister Imran Khan betrayal Geo News reported that she was later disqualified from holding public office.

Defense Minister Khawaja Asif said the Cypher Gate could lead to the former prime minister and head of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. Imran Khan treason trial and disqualification.
The federal minister said that the head of Pakistan’s Tehreek-e-Insaf used “a diplomatic sword for political purposes and can be accused of treason for using the confidential document for personal interest.”

“Article 6 can be imposed on the head of PTI,” Asif said, referring to the law dealing with high treason under which the accused can be sentenced to death and life imprisonment.
Former chief secretary to former prime minister Azam Khan called the sectarian statement “important”, saying that the former assistant prime minister had validated the claims of his opponents.
Notably, Imran’s top aide had revealed in a sectarian statement that last year the then prime minister had used the diplomatic code sent by Pakistan’s envoy to Washington to concoct a narrative against the establishment and the opposition, Geo News reported.
Earlier on Thursday, Law Minister Azam Khan said the PTI chief “could be sentenced to up to 14 years in prison for using the diplomatic ambassador for political purposes”.
Geo News reported, quoting sources, that Azzam, who has been “missing” since last month, registered his statement under Criminal Procedure Law No. 164 before the investigating judge.
It relates to the allegations made by Imran Khan, who was ousted by a parliamentary vote in April last year.
On March 27, 2022, Khan alleged that Washington hatched a plan to remove him from office and waved the ambassador at a public gathering to support his claims. Geo News reported that the US has repeatedly denied such allegations, calling them “categorically false”.
In his confession, Azzam alleged that when he shared the code with Imran, the former prime minister was “delighted” and called the language “a huge American mistake”.
“There can be no greater betrayal than this,” Asif said while referring to the sectarian manifesto that purportedly endorsed the ruling coalition’s allegations that the PTI chief endangered the country’s national security by using the classified document for political purposes.
“National security was endangered and the Official Secrets Act was violated,” Asif was quoted by Geo News.
Earlier on Thursday, Imran described the revival of the controversy over Saifer as an “attempt to disqualify” him from contesting the elections being held by the PDM-led government.
Addressing his supporters via video link, the PTI chief has accused Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, PPP leader Asif Ali Zardari, and others of masterminding a plot to remove him from the political arena, Geo News reports.
