Rains continued unabated in parts of Telangana for the fifth consecutive day on Saturday, inundating low-lying areas and halting normal life.

Lakes, reservoirs and other bodies of water are overflowing due to incessant rains in some areas of northern coastal Andhra State.
With the irrigation projects receiving huge inflows from upstream, the authorities opened the flood gates to drain the flood waters. Three people were killed in rain-related incidents in the state on Friday.
As it continues to rain, the state government has extended holidays for educational institutions by another day (Saturday).

Rainwater entered some settlements in the town of Adilabad, causing great suffering to the residents.
The Binganga and Godavari rivers were in flood, flooding the low-lying areas. Projects in the Godavari Basin have been receiving huge upstream flows.
Floods continue to flow in Kadam project in Nirmal district. The water level rose to 688.22 feet, against a maximum level of 700 feet.
The authorities opened 14 gates of the project to release 84,269 cups of water.
Swarna reservoir in Nirmal district has received massive inflows. The water level rose to 1,180 feet versus the full reservoir level of 1,183 feet.
Coal production at the mines of the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) remained crippled for a fourth day. The Kawlasa Nala project in the Qamardi district continued to receive huge inflows.
The water level in the project rose to 456.60 feet as against the full level of 458 feet. The Sri Ram Sagar Project (SRSP) also continued to receive huge inflows.
The current water level of the project is 1,079.10 feet, compared to the level of 1,091 feet. Officials say that if the current flows continue for 2-3 days, the project gates will have to be opened.
Meanwhile, Bhadrachalam’s Godavari level in Bhadradri Kottagudhem district had receded. On Saturday morning, the water level dropped to 39.4 feet.
The district administration withdrew the first sign of danger. However, with upstream projects getting huge inflows from neighboring Maharashtra, water levels are likely to rise again.
