The Income Tax Department has seized Rs 15 crore in cash and Rs 5 crore in jewelry after raids in multiple locations in Bengaluru and Mysuru, targeting a few financiers who were allegedly mobilizing resources to fund candidates in the May 10 Karnataka assembly elections, sources in the IT department said. The sources added that the raids were carried out in buildings located in Shanti Nagar, Cox Town, Shivaji Nagar, RMV Extension, Cunningham Road, Sadashiva Nagar, Kumarapark West and Fairfield Layote in Bengaluru on Friday.
They added that “these raids led to the seizure of huge quantities of unknown money and jewelry hidden in secret caches.”
