Real Madrid travel to La Cartuja on Saturday (6 May) to face Osasuna in the Copa del Rey final. Manager Carlo Ancelotti will be determined to win his second title this season.

Meanwhile, Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has been backed to join Los Blancos. Elsewhere, La Liga giants Moussa Diaby wants a replacement for Erling Haaland.

On that note, here’s a look at the top Real Madrid transfer stories as of May 6, 2023:

Support Erling Haaland to join Real Madrid

Former Liverpool striker Stan Collymore believes Erling Haaland will end up at Real Madrid.

The Norwegian striker has lit up the Premier League since joining Manchester City last summer. The 22-year-old has scored 51 goals and eight assists in 46 appearances across all competitions this season.

Los Blancos have long admired Haaland, who they see as the perfect successor to Karim Benzema. Speaking to Caught Offside, Collymore signaled the Norwegian to meet up with close friend Judd Bellingham at the Santiago Bernabeu.

“I’m wondering how long he’ll stay at City, though. Now he’s breaking that record, and with the clear focus on winning the treble, if Haaland and City can do that, how much incentive will he have to stay at the Etihad? – very little. In my opinion,” Collymore said.

he added:

“Add that to the fact that he’s already good friends with Bellingham and, as I’ve said many times before, I wouldn’t be surprised at all if he saw the pair reunite in Madrid.”

Collymore concluded:

“It would be a logical move for Haaland – I very much doubt he will see his career at City and play for the best club in the world and join the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Raul, Ronaldo Nazario and Luis. Figo, Sergio Ramos, Roberto Carlos, Alfredo Di Stefano and Zinedine Zidane in the Book of Legends is probably the thing. The only one missing in his career. So watch that space – Haaland to Real Madrid for the next few seasons.”

The La Liga giants are already planning to team Haaland up with Kylian Mbappe in the next few years.

Los Blancos want Moussa Diaby as a replacement for Eden Hazard

Real Madrid have identified Moussa Diaby as a replacement for Eden Hazard, AS reported.

The French striker has been in fine form with Eintracht Frankfurt and caught the eye at the Santiago Bernabéu. Los Blancos are ready to make an offer for Hazard at the end of the season. The 32-year-old has been on the decline since arriving at the club from Chelsea in 2019.

The La Liga giants are eager to end his misery this summer and are expected to ask the player to find a new club. If Hazard continues for more, Real Madrid will want Diaby to replace him at the club. The proposed arrival of the 23-year-old could also help the club deal with the departure of Mariano Diaz this summer.

Brazil is keen to appoint Carlo Ancelotti as national team manager

Brazilian Football Confederation President Edinaldo Rodriguez has said that Carlo Ancelotti is their preferred choice for the vacant managerial position.

The Seleção has yet to name a successor to Tite, who left after a disappointing 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. Ancelotti has been closely linked with the job, with the Italian’s future at Real Madrid as well.

Speaking to Beln Sports, Rodrigues said they are waiting for the right moment to start a conversation with Ancelotti.

“He doesn’t have any kind of offers, but we followed him and also checked if he had any kind of desire. I put him in Plan A. I speak for the first time in a very open manner, and it makes no sense to hide my preference,” he said.

He completed:

“I try to be very ethical. I cannot approach any coach who has a contract with a club. We have tried to be patient and wait for the right moment to have a conversation or a meeting. This also includes those who head the club and have a direct contract. From the moment we receive the signal it is also His will, we’ll start talking, ready for what could be a ‘yes’ or a ‘no’. From there, we’ll have a plan B.”

Los Blancos are said to be looking for Ancelotti’s successor.
