The final race of the 2023 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series this weekend saw GMS Racing driver Grant Enfinger take his eighth win in the nationwide series. The 38-year-old was able to make the trip to Victory Lane at Kansas Speedway after crossing the checkered flag in P1 during the Heart of America 200 on Saturday, marking his first win on the 1.5-mile tri-oval track.
The 134-lap race saw Enfinger stay out of trouble on seven separate restarts, crossing the line reasonably well ahead of the nearest car in P2. Corey Heim trailed Enfinger by more than 4 seconds when the duo crossed the start-finish line to finish the race.
Leading the most laps during the race at 65, Fairhope, Alabama explained how major setup adjustments to his No. 23 Chevrolet Silverado during the race made the difference on the track. He made the same clear in a post-race interview:
“It was a great night for us, since the green flag dropped we already had a really good Chevrolet Silverado. It just started off tight. Once Geoff (Hensley, crew chief) made one adjustment to it, I felt like from that moment on, we were the best truck on the most likely.”
With over 15 front changes and seven drivers battling it out at the front of the field, the 200-mile event managed to keep fans on the edge of their seats the entire time. Driving in his seventh season in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series full-time, it remains to be seen how Grant Enfinger progresses from being the ARCA Menards Series champion in 2015 to a potential National Series contender.
Making her debut in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, supermodel-turned-race car driver Toni Bridenger made her first attempt at racing in the Truck Series, finishing in a P15. The Heart of America 200 saw the Arab-American take to the paddock in a Victoria’s Secret Toyota Tundra TRD, becoming the second female driver ever in the series after Hailie Deegan.
Looking forward to a full-time season in the sport, Breidinger is looking forward to someday being in the Cup Series, and is eyeing former pioneers like Danica Patrick in NASCAR and Indycar.
The NASCAR Cup Series goes live Sunday this weekend at Kansas Speedway for the AdventHealth 400.
