Danger! Gentlemen Premiere: Game 1 and 2 results detected
Danger! Gentlemen 2023, hosted by Ken Jennings, aired its first episode on Mondays. In one episode, two matches were played. Danger! Fans were familiar with the players as they became champions in previous seasons and tournaments.
Players scores will be calculated based on match points. The winner will get 3 points, the second place will get 1 point, and the third place will get zero points. The competition will consist of three rounds – Jeopardy, Double Jeopardy and Final Jeopardy.
Let’s take a look at how Andrew Ho and James Holzhauer won their respective matches Danger! Gentlemen:
Game 1:
The first half of the ABC tournament featured Game 1 that featured three players – Andrew He, a software developer from San Francisco, California, Matt Amodio, a postdoctoral researcher from Cambridge, Massachusetts, and Amy Schneider, a writer from Oakland, California.
On the Jeopardy Tour, Andrew and Amy give each other some tough competition. Matt started slow, however, and tried to gain momentum in the second round but was unable to increase his score. Andrew was leading the results list before Final Jeopardy, followed by Amy in second place. While all three gave the correct answer in the final round, Andrew won the first game by $201.
Under the ‘Poetry’ category, the final question was as follows:
A colossal head of Ramesses II brought to the British Museum inspired this poem in 1818.
The correct answer was “Ozymandias”.
Take a look at the final results for Danger! Gentlemen 2023 Episode 1 Game 1:
Andrew’s is: $27,800 + $601 = $28,401 (What is Ozymandias?)
Amy Schneider: $14,200 + $14,000 = $28,200 (What is Ozymandias?)
Matt Amodio: $8,200 + $6,001 = $14,201 (What is Ozymandias?)
According to the points system, Andrew had three points, Amy had one, and Matt had zero points.
Game 2:
Featured in the next half hour of Episode 1 is Game 2, including players – Sam Butry, assistant professor at Naval Postgraduate School from Pacific Grove, California, Mattia Roach, writer, and podcaster from Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and James Holzhauer, showrunner Self-described gaming from Las Vegas, NV.
In the first round, James started strong finding his first double deli. While he was driving the Jeopardy Tour, Sam had only $200 behind him. Mattia is in third place. It continued the same until the end. In the second round, James’ luck worked in his favor again as Dilly found back-to-back doubles. He had gained a significant lead, and thus, his score was not affected even after incorrectly answering the last question. Only Sam gave the correct answer.
Under the USA category, the text for the “Final Danger” question was as follows:
“It opened in 1909 and is less well-known than its older neighbor, connecting Brooklyn and Chinatown.”
The correct answer was “Manhattan Bridge”. While Sam answered the question correctly, Mattia wrote “Verrazano Narrows Bridge” and James took a quip from host Ken Jennings rather than write any guesses.
Take a look at the final results for Danger! Gentlemen 2023 Episode One Game Two:
James Holzhauer: $40,800 – $9,812 = $30,988 (stop dodging your rematch, Ken)
Sam Butry: $12,200 + $6,201 = $18,401 (what is the Manhattan Bridge?)
Mattia Roach: $9,200 – $3,001 = $6,199 (What is the Verrazano Narrows Bridge?)
James got three points, Sam got one, and Mattia got zero.
All six heroes will now appear in the next episode of Danger! Gentlemenwhich will air on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at 8.00 PM ET on ABC.
