The New York Yankees have struggled mightily this season and all fingers are pointing to Aaron Boone. While there are plenty of problems with the squad and an incredible list of injured players, the manager is to blame. As a result, fans want him fired. In fact, many have wanted it a lot for a while.
Whether it’s an incorrect selection or lack of offense, Boone gets the bulk of the criticism. If the Yankees listen to him and fire him, there are some very interesting candidates out there.

Don Mattingly is a former Yankee, which will make him very popular among the fan base. He’s struggled to make an impact with the Miami Marlins and is currently a bench coach, but it wouldn’t be surprising to see his name pop up as a theoretical replacement for Boone if the Yankees make that decision.
Joe Madone would be an interesting choice. On the other hand, the common notion in recent managerial appointments is that younger is better. The old renovation managers didn’t get jobs. Now, they are again. Bruce Boshey et al. proved it. Can Maddon follow suit in the principal’s office?
Carlos Beltrán was a part of the Houston Astros scandal, which is why he never finished as manager of the New York Mets when he was hired. However, he’s also a former Yankee, and he’s young and likable. The fanbase would quickly forget his connection to the Astros if he replaced Aaron Boone.
