Demetrius Johnson believes he will have no size problems after taking on the taller and bigger Adriano Moraes.
‘Mighty Mouse’ ended his trilogy with Moraes at ONE Fight Night 10 this past weekend with another scintillating performance over five rounds. Having not quite closed the book on his MMA career yet, Johnson has let fans speculate that his next fight might be a defense of the ONE World Flyweight Championship against Kairat Akhmetov.
Ahmadov, a former title holder, has been undefeated since 2018 and is currently the second-ranked fighter in the flyweight division. At ONE Fight Night 10, he snapped No. 4 Reece McLaren’s winning streak by finishing fourth to book his spot on the World Championship title.
After Johnson’s victory over Adriano Moraes, the “Kazakh” was invited inside the circle to face “Mighty Mouse”.
In the post-fight press conference, Demetrius Johnson compared Akhmedov’s and Moraes’ sizes.
The American MMA icon said:
“With Adriano he was taller, bouncier and probably bigger than me as an athlete. You know I weighed at 133 and it was very easy to achieve that weight, but I look forward to the challenge.”
Khairat Akhmedov poses a new threat to Demetrius Johnson. The 35-year-old is skilled in Greco-Roman wrestling and is one of the strongest fighters on the list. To date, his only losses have come against former title holders Adriano Moraes and Geje Eustaquio – both of whom he has also defeated on other occasions.
Fans in North America can rewatch Johnson and Akhmetov’s performances at ONE Fight Night 10 for free via Prime Video.
