Real Madrid has reportedly decided not to reignite Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) striker Kylian Mbappe due to Vinicius Junior’s impressive form.

Marca reports that Los Blancos are not willing to spend any money on the France striker after missing out on his free signing last summer. Real Madrid were highly expected to seal the 24-year-old as a free agent, but he signed a new three-year contract with Paris Saint-Germain last May.

There have been reports that Real Madrid are interested in a huge cash withdrawal for Mbappe and Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham. It seems that the young Englishman will arrive at the Santiago Bernabéu.

Los Blancos, however, feel that Mbappe’s transfer is less important amid Vinicius’ impressive performances over the past two years. The Brazilian forward has scored 23 goals and provided 21 assists in 51 matches across all competitions this season. He scored 22 goals and provided 20 assists last season, including the winner in the Champions League final.

There is reportedly a clause in Mbappe’s PSG contract that allows him to leave for free in 2024. That could catch the eye of Real Madrid, as Karim Benzema’s new one-year extension will expire at that time.

Mbappe has been on high alert this season, scoring 38 goals and providing nine assists in 40 appearances across various competitions. He has regularly expressed his interest in playing for Los Merengues but it doesn’t look like he will arrive anytime soon.

Kylian Mbappe surprised many when he decided to sign a new three-year contract with Paris Saint-Germain in May 2022. The Frenchman appeared to be headed to the Santiago Bernabeu but opted to stay at the Parc des Princes instead.

The Frenchman explained the reasons for extending his contract with the Parisians last November. He told Sports Illustrated that he wants to achieve something special as a Frenchman in Paris:

“I always talk about my ambition, what I want to do, and now the time has come. In Paris, the book is all white. What an opportunity! You have to think differently. Of course, going to Madrid was easier. But I have this ambition. I am French. I am I’m a Parisian, and for me to win in Paris is really special – really special.”

Kylian Mbappe has been the hero of Paris Saint-Germain since his arrival at the club from Monaco in 2017. He scored 209 goals and provided 97 assists in 257 matches, winning five French League titles and three French Cup titles.

However, Mbappe has yet to get his hands on the UEFA Champions League or win the Ballon d’Or. These achievements are the ones many believe he has a better chance of achieving at Real Madrid. The La Liga giants have won the European title 14 times, and Benzema is the current Ballon d’Or winner.
