Danger! Season 39 returns with an all-new episode on Friday, May 26, 2023, featuring a returning champion and new players. One Day winner Jesse Chen returned to the Alex Trebek stage for the second time, while Diandra D’Alessio and Alice Ciciora made their game show debuts. The trio gave their best scoring in all three rounds.
To understand the concept of the show, let’s take a look at the official synopsis of the game:
“A returning champion and two competitors test their buzzing skills and knowledge in a wide range of academic and grassroots categories.”
Jesse Chen, an accounting manager from Bayside, New York, was the returning hero. He played opposite Diandra, a technical writer from Montreal, Quebec, Canada, and Alice, a political scientist and researcher originally from Palatine, Illinois.

Jesse Chin made his first appearance on the May 25 episode where he earned $24,801. He returned on the Friday episode to play his second match against two newcomers.
In the final episode, first-round categories included “That’s Cool, Spanish Occupations, Foodstuffs, 18th Century America, Damn! Baseball!, Research.”
Returning champion Jesse took the lead in the first round by answering 11 questions, however, two of them turned out to be incorrect. On the other hand, Diandra D’Alessio gave 10 correct answers, but some of the questions had a low value, and therefore her score was lower than that of Jesse. Alice Ciciora found the first Double Double in the game but failed to answer the question correctly. Of the 9 questions she attempted, the Illinois native could only answer six correctly.
The top ten players in the first round were Jesse at $5,400, Diandra at $4,600, and Alice at $300.
The categories for the second round of the episode, hosted by Mayim Bialik, were “Cities of the World, I Just Made This Stuff,” Quotes, Book Character Doing Stuff, Technology, “Re” Research.
On the Double Jeopardy tour, Alice has an impressive comeback. From her negative grades to a top ranking, Alice has given stiff competition to her fellow players. Jesse landed in second place but was not far behind Alice. Diandra was also closer to the competitors’ scores.
The player scores were Alice at $8,900, Jesse at $8,600, and Diandra at $7,800.
The Final Jeopardy tour was a disappointment. None of the players could give the correct answer to the last question. While Jesse and Alice bet hard, Diandra played wise and took the lead in the final round.
Hence, Diandra D’Alessio won Danger! today.

On the May 26th episode, the final round question was under the “Collections in History” category.
The clue/question reads:
“The third most famous group that invaded Britain in the fifth century gave their name to the continental part of Denmark.”
“Jute” was the answer.
All three players fail to answer the last question correctly. Take a look at the final result for the May 26th episode:

Since the exit of the winner 9 days ago Ben Chan, Danger! Season 39 didn’t get a player who could sustain a winning streak for more than two or three games. Only time will tell if Diandra leaves or stays in the game.
