The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) is offering a free online course for school students above class 8. Students who are interested in learning about remote sensing and geographic information science, and have a basic understanding of science and mathematics, can apply for the course.
Things to know:
- The course is offered as part of Antarctic Jegiasa (Space Curiosity) ISRO initiative.
- Fundamentals of remote sensing technology, as laid down in the NCERT curriculum, will be taught to students.
- Classes will be conducted by scholars and professors from various ISRO centers.
- The course will deal with the use of simple language, pictures and animations.
- It will cover topics such as remote sensing phases, electromagnetic radiation (EMR), geostationary and heliosynchronous satellites, types of remote sensors, and multispectral scanners.
- The aim of the course is to educate secondary and high school students about remote sensing technology and its use in studying the planet and its environment through educational lectures.
