For the past 50 years, Narayani teacher has been walking 25 km every day to impart education to generations of students in Kasaragod in Kerala. This is the story of her extraordinary journey.

Known as Teacher Narayani, this 65-year-old walks 25 km every day to give lessons to children in her district. Her day starts at 4.30am and she reaches the first house by 6.30am. From here, she walks to her other students’ homes and is home by nightfall.
Narayani’s Class 10 teacher died in 1971 and he never attended college. But she knows four languages - English, Malayalam, Hindi and Sanskrit. She started teaching at the age of 15 but was not a school teacher. Within the past 50 years, sex He has taught more than 100 students.
“I also received positive feedback and all of my students got good grades,” says the teacher, who uses tuition to maintain her living and care for her bedridden husband.
Narayani says walking is part of her daily fast. “I will continue to both walk and teach until my health allows,” she says. The teacher continued to take classes during the lockdown caused by COVID-19.
The resident Cheruvathur and her husband live in a rented house and her biggest wish is to move to a private home.
