Tamil Nadu School Education Minister Anpil Mahesh Boyamuzi said today that the school education department will take steps to ensure completion of the syllabus despite the delay in opening schools after the summer holidays.
Most likely, Saturdays may be turned into working days for schools in order to enable teachers to complete parts on time, he said.
“We plan to make Saturdays working days for schools so that the students are not overburdened and the teachers can complete the lessons,” Boyamuzhi told reporters after the inauguration of a silambam (martial arts) competition at a school here.
Although schools following the State Board curriculum were scheduled to reopen on June 1 after the summer holidays, the state government announced the reopening of schools on June 12 for classes 6 to 12 and June 14 for classes 1 to 5, in light of the heatwave conditions. .
The minister explained, “The delay in opening schools will lead to a shortage of four hours for each subject in this academic year. This shortage must be overcome without burdening students and teachers.”
