On March 20, a woman filed a complaint here alleging that her family members and money received her swiped photos and vulgar messages from a fake social media ID which led to their engagement being called off.

Police said on Saturday that a 19-year-old woman from Bihar state was arrested for allegedly creating a fake social media profile and sending lewd messages and photos of a woman to her fiancé and family.

They said the accused was Shubham Kumar, a resident of Makar Saran in Bihar.

On March 20, a woman filed a complaint here alleging that her family members and money received diverted photos and lewd messages from a fake identity on social media that led to their engagement being called off, a senior police officer said.

During the investigation, it was found that Shubham Kumar created a fake ID and allegedly sent them the messages.

M said. Harsh Vardhan Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) Muzaffarpur has been arrested from Muzaffarpur.

Police said Kumar said he was in a relationship with the woman’s sister-in-law who, for family reasons, had asked him to ensure the engagement was called off.

In order to discredit her, he created a fake identity card and sent vulgar letters and distorted pictures of the complainant to her fiancé.

The DCP said the objectionable material was retrieved from his mobile phone and an investigation is now underway to confirm the allegations about his sister-in-law.
