The official said a joint team of security personnel was out on a search operation on Friday, arrested three Maoists near their village Posnar under the boundaries of Gangalore Police Station.

Police said on Sunday that security forces had arrested three Maoists and seized explosives, including a tiffin bomb, in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district.

An official here said that those arrested were tasked with planting explosives and placing Maoist posters and banners in the area.

The official said a joint team of security personnel was out on a search operation on Friday and arrested three Maoists near their village Posnar under the boundaries of Gangalore Police Station.

He said personnel from the 85th Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), the District Reserve Guard (DRG) and local police took part in the operation, which concluded on Saturday.

During interrogation, the three informed the security personnel of their links with the outlawed CPI (Maoist), the official said, adding that a tiffin bomb, gelatin bars, safety fuse, electric wire, Maoist literature and leaflets were recovered from their possession.

The police identified those arrested as Ramesh Ponim (28), Bhima Ponim (21) and Suku Dhruva (38), all members of the Dandakaranya Adivasi Kisan Majdur Sangthan (front wing of the Maoists) in the district.
