Under the ‘Ocean Ring of Yoga’, yoga will be performed at Indian naval bases, ports and naval vessels in 34 countries including USA, Russia, Portugal and Morocco.

Yoga sessions will be held at Indian research stations in the Arctic and Antarctic regions, along with countries along and near the prime meridian to celebrate the International Day of Yoga on June 21.

The Prime Meridian (previously called the Greenwich Meridian) is the 0 meridian, the starting point for measuring the distance between east and west around the Earth.

“Yoga offerings will be conducted at the Indian Arctic Station – Himadri and at the Antarctic Station – Bharati along with the countries along and near the Main Meridian Line,” said an official of Ayush’s Ministry.

Under the “Ocean Circle of Yoga,” the official said, yoga will be practiced at Indian naval bases, ports and naval vessels in 34 countries including the United States, Russia, Portugal and Morocco.

Indian naval vessels will be stationed at nine ports around the world and will participate in the demonstration of the joint yoga protocol. The official said the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways will also organize demonstrations of the CYP program in countries with which it has signed memorandums of understanding.

A Bharatmila yoga practice was also conceptualized under which the Army, Navy and Air Force along with ITBP, BSF and BRO would perform a series of yoga offerings in unison. Sagarmala yoga will be witnessed all along the Indian coast line. There will be a yoga demonstration on the INS Vikrant flight deck.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lead the global celebration of the International Day of Yoga at the United Nations Headquarters in New York on June 21, while the National Observance of Yoga will be led by Vice President of India, Jagdeep Dhankhar of Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh.
