Amidst controversies and the announcement that a few of its dialogues had changed, Om Raut Adipurush’s epic took in an impressive ₹129 crore (net) at the box office during its first weekend. Prabhas and Kriti Sanon’s film released on 16 June and met with widely mixed response. However, the trolling did not affect the film’s box office numbers. The decision-makers also announced that they will remove some dialogues that have led to discontent in many parts of India. The film was called out for disrespecting the Ramayan epic, which led to its director Raut and dialogue writer Manoj Muntshir Shukla speaking out. Shukla, in a tweet, said that despite having written more than 4,000 lines in Adiporush, feelings were hurt “because of five lines”.

Adipurush has faced criticism for its visual effects as well. The team had to delay the film for a few months as they fixed audience complaints in the department after the release of the first look at the film. The film, based on the epic Ramayana, features Prabha as Raghava, Kriti Sanon as Janaki, and Saif Ali Khan as Ravana. With a reported budget of ₹500 crore, the film also stars Sunny Singh and Devdatta Nage as Lakshman and Hanuman, respectively.
