After an argument between the couple inside the car, the accused allegedly butchered the woman and fled the scene

Police said a man beheaded his “girlfriend” inside a moving rickshaw in Mumbai’s Sakinaka district on Monday, and attempted suicide with the same weapon and fled the scene.

The accident occurred in Dutt Nagar on Khairani Road in Mumbai’s Sakinaka district. After an argument between the couple inside the car, the accused allegedly butchered the woman and fled the scene.

“Deepak Purse slashed Panchila Jamdar’s throat inside a moving auto-rickshaw. She got out of the vehicle to escape but fell at a close distance. An official said Borse tried to end his life by slashing his neck with the same sharp-edged weapon.”

Bystanders alerted the police. Both were taken to a nearby hospital, where the woman was pronounced dead. “The accused is recovering,” he added.

According to a police official, the woman and the accused were in contact with each other, and the incident was triggered by a fight that broke out between them inside the auto-rickshaw.

The police are currently working on registering a murder case against the accused.
