Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday said that the state has succeeded in achieving the first rank in rice production with the efforts of the state government, at a public meeting in Ranga Reddy district.

He said the Kaleshwaram lift irrigation scheme, which was constructed in the Godavari Basin, has helped the agriculture sector on a large scale. Rao also said that the continuous supply of water for irrigation and uninterrupted power has paved the way for progress in the state.

He said the green cover in the state has increased by 7.7 percent over the past few years. He praised the vigorous efforts of government machinery in increasing the green cover of the state and said that the government has allocated about Rs 100 crore for the fruit plantation expansion campaign.
