During a sweep operation, securitymen discovered explosives in the woods near Tumbahaka village on Monday.

Five explosive devices planted by members of the outlawed CPI (Maoist) party to target security personnel of an anti-Naksal operation have been recovered from a forest in West Singhbhum district of Jharkhand, police said. Police Inspector Ashutosh Shekhar said that during the combing operation, security personnel discovered the explosives in the jungle near Tumbahaka village on Monday.

He said that the explosive disposal squad was immediately defused.

Officials said the district police have been engaged in a large-scale sweep operation since January 11 after inputs regarding the presence of senior Maoist leaders in the district’s Kulhan district.
