Delhi police said it received two calls on Wednesday from a man who threatened to kill Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Those two calls came in around 10-11 a.m., the police said.

Police found that the calls were made from a single number which was traced to Paschim Vihar (East). Sources said the caller was an alcoholic who left his home. The police questioned his 10-year-old son and began searching for him.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outside) Harendra Singh said, “We received two PCR calls – one at 10.46 am and the other at 10.54 am from an unknown man targeting VIPs. On his first call, he threatened to kill Bihar CM Nitish Kumar and demanded 10 crore rupees. Then he called He threatened to kill Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah while demanding Rs 2 crore.”

The house officer of the station with a team of four immediately went to Paschim Vihar (East) and found that the caller was not at his house.

“The suspect has been identified as Sudhir, who is an alcoholic. He works as a carpenter. His son told us that Sudhir has been drinking since morning. The boy does not know where his father is. Our team is constantly trying to track him down,” the DCP added.
