According to IMD, Karnataka’s Chamarajanagara districts, Chikkappalapura, Chikkamagaluru, Chitradurga and Davanagher will also receive heavy rains.

Bengaluru, the capital of Karnataka, which woke up to a cloudy morning on Wednesday, is expected to see thunderstorms this week, according to the Meteorological Department. Bengaluru urban and rural areas are expected to see light to moderate rain in many places from Thursday to Sunday, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

IMD, in its latest forecast for Bengaluru, said light to moderate rain, along with thunderstorms is very likely in some areas today. Surface winds are likely to be strong at times. It is very likely that the maximum and minimum temperatures will be around 25 and 21 degrees Celsius, respectively.

According to IMD, Chamarajanagara districts of Karnataka, Chikkaballapura, Chikkamagaluru, Chitradurga, Davanagere, Hassan, Kodagu, Kolar, Mysuru, Ramnagara, Shivamogga, Tumakuru and Vijayanagara will receive heavy rains.

Northern inland areas of Bidar, Dharwad, Gadag, Raichur, Kopal and Yadgir will also receive rain. The coastal regions of Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada and Udupi are also likely to experience showers.

On Tuesday, the city of Bengaluru experienced waterlogging in some areas after sudden heavy rains, which led to traffic jams. According to the Bengaluru Traffic Police, the whirlwinds were tested in the city’s Company Circle, Majestic, Shivajinagar, Shanti Nagar, Mysuru Road, Magadi Road, KR Market, and Vijaya Nagar district.

However, traffic was later restored in most places.

Taking to Twitter, the Bengaluru Traffic Police alerted commuters about possible jams and road closures today.

“Le Meridian Tunnel closed due to waterlogging… Slow traffic on Ecospace and Bellandur Ring Road, due to heavy rain. Advised to drive safely. Slow traffic on Hebbal Bridge towards International Airport due to waterlogging.”

“Bellandur is downhill with rain-running water cleared with the help of BBMP Mahadevapura RI team. It is improving traffic from Bellandur to Ecospace Junction,” she said in another tweet.
