Scotland and Oman were victorious in Group B matches of the 2023 FIFA World Cup qualifiers on Wednesday 21 June. Oman beat the United Arab Emirates by five wickets with 24 balls remaining.

Scotland, on the other hand, won a hard-fought encounter against Ireland from the last ball by one wicket. Michael Lisk’s unbeaten 91-run strikeout led the team home. Ireland and the United Arab Emirates both had poor starts to the tournament, losing twice in their first two matches.

Craig Ervin is second on the list with 171 runs at an average of 171 and a strike rate of 97.15. Ireland’s George Dockerell was outstanding in the tournament so far, although both strokes were in vain. Dockrell scored 160 runs in two matches, at an average of 160 and a strike rate of 87.91.

Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga is the leading wicket-taker in the 2023 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers. The leg-spinner has taken six wickets at an average of four. He was simply brilliant against the UAE, posting his best bowling figures in ODIs (8-1-24-6).

Zimbabwe’s left-arm Richard Ngarava was the second leading wicket-taker. Pace also picked up six wickets at an average of 13.83. Brandon McMullen and Mark Adair account for a fifth of their scalps each.

Karan KC, Saurabh Netravalkar, Jai Odedra, Bilal Khan, Gulshan Jha, Phayaz Butt, Joshua Little, Sikandar Raza and Stephen Taylor took four wickets each.
