A 13-year-old girl allegedly ended her life by jumping from the seventh floor of an apartment building in Mahim. Initial investigations by the local police revealed that her parents had taken her mobile phone because she was spending too much time on it. This upset her, because of which she ended her life.
According to police officials, the incident occurred around 7.30 am on Wednesday. An officer said: “After she jumped from her apartment, the guard and local residents alerted her family, who took her to a nearby hospital. She was pronounced dead on arrival.
Mahim’s police team recorded an accidental death report. A senior police official said, “We learned that she was using her mobile phone often, which made her parents very unhappy, so they took the phone from her.”
Police further said the eighth grader remained upset with her parents for a few days after her phone was taken away. Wednesday morning she jumped to her death. “We are checking to see if there is any other angle,” said one of the officers.
