There wasn’t much difference in elevation that would stop the Kiatmoo9 Superlek.
Despite being seven inches shorter than his opponent, Superlek took out the infamous Nabil Annan in the first round of the Muay Thai flyweight competition at ONE Friday Fights 22 on Friday.
The 6-foot-2 Anan looked under Superlek pressure in the first few moments of the first round and used his massive height to keep his distance and evade the Thai star’s aggression.
Anane even landed a Superlek with a few punches on top, but the ONE flyweight kickboxing world champion was just too nimble for the 19-year-old striker.
Superlek immediately knew how to negate a height mismatch and quickly turned his attention to a gentleman’s middle.
Once he found his combo, Superlek went on the offensive and blasted Anane with a direct hit to the body.
Superlek knew he had wounded the WBC Muay Thai world champion from the second degree, and proceeded to fire another body shot that eventually knocked the young giant down.
Annan tried his best to come back, but Superlek’s body shots did too much damage and the referee officially conceded the contest 2:03 into the first round.
After the match, Superlek said he had no problems doing such a daunting job.
Superlek told Mitch Chilson in the internal interview:
“I don’t think much of it, my boss told me to fight so I fought him”
Superlek bumped up his winning streak to six fights in a row and collected an impressive $50,000 bonus from ONE Championship CEO Chatri Sityodtong.
This was Superlake’s tenth win in the ONE Championship and his seventh under Muay Thai.
