Famous American singer Mary Milliben touched Prime Minister Modi’s feet after singing the Indian national anthem.

In a typical show of respect and reverence, singer Mary Milliben, known for her rendition of India’s national anthem Jana Gana Mana and other religious hymns, touched Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s feet after her performance on Friday (local time) in Washington.

“It’s an honor to be here. The Prime Minister is such a wonderful, kind man. It’s such an honor to be a part of his state visit this week. I loved hearing the crowd sing the national anthem. You can hear the emotion in all their voices. A real honor to be here,” Milliben said while addressing here tonight years.

Miliban said she will cherish the moment forever in a separate tweet and thanked Prime Minister Modi for his kindness and warmth. She also thanked the American Indian community and the Indian diaspora around the world for their love and support. “A night I will cherish forever. Thank you Prime Minister Modi for your kindness and warmth. Honor to sing to you. Thank you DDNews for broadcasting. India and Indian communities around the world, I love you! God bless the India-US alliance,” Milliben said.

The event was held at the Ronald Reagan Building in Washington, D.C. where Prime Minister Modi delivered a speech on the Indian diaspora. “We shape not only policies and agreements, but lives, dreams and destinies,” Prime Minister Modi said at the event organized by the American Indian Community Foundation (USICF).

Prime Minister Modi said that India’s progress can be attributed to the unwavering faith of its 1.4 billion people.

“The partnership between India and the US will make the world better in the 21st century. You all play a crucial role in this partnership. I will leave for the airport straight from here, meeting you all is like eating a sweet dish after food,” said Prime Minister Modi.

India is the mother of democracy and America is the champion of advanced democracy. Today, the world sees the partnership between these two great democracies grow stronger. America is our largest trading partner and export destination, but the true potential of our partnership is yet to be seen. This is the best time to invest as much as possible in India.

Prime Minister Modi is now on his way to Egypt after concluding his four-day state visit to the US where he addressed a joint session of the US Congress, led celebrations of the International Day of Yoga and held important discussions related to trade, defense and investment in India with US President Joe Biden.
