Former India captain and current Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain MS Dhoni is seen with his daughter Ziva, playing with their pets, in a recent video shared by Sakshi Dhoni. Pictures of the same thing are going viral on social media.
Having led CSK to victory in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 last month, Dhoni is currently enjoying family time. The 41-year-old legend played the entire IPL game with a knee injury. He underwent surgery for himself at a famous hospital in Mumbai right after the conclusion of the T20 league.
On the night of Friday, June 23, Sakshi took to her official Instagram account and shared a cute video of Dhoni and Ziva having fun while playing with their pet dogs. The CSK captain’s wife shared the clip with a red heart and dog emoji.
Speaking of IPL 2023, CSK equaled the record of five IPL title wins by Mumbai Indians (MI) by defeating Gujarat Titans (GT) by five wickets (DLS method) in the final match at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Gujarat batted first and put on 214/4 on the board. However, Chennai chased the adjusted target of 171 in 15 overs over the last ball as Ravindra Jadeja hit Mohit Sharma for the bounds.
‘Even the final, he never complained’ – CSK CEO Dhoni hailed for playing IPL 2023 with injury
Recently, CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan praised me for playing IPL 2023 despite my knee injury. He revealed that the captain never complained and went about his mission in the usual way. Speaking to ESPNcricinfo Tamil, Kasi Viswanathan said:
“Until the final, nobody ever complained about his knee. Even though everyone knew, and you’d see him struggle on the run, he never once complained. After the final, he said, ‘Okay, I’m going to have surgery.'” He finished the surgery, he’s very happy, he’s recovering.”
“We never asked him things like, ‘Do you want to play or do you want to sit? ‘ If he couldn’t, he would have told us right away. We knew it was hard for him to play, but his commitment to the team, his leadership, how everyone benefits from the team. From that perspective You have to appreciate it,” Viswanathan added in praising MSD.
There are question marks over whether Dhoni will return to action in IPL 2024, although the man himself has hinted he may return and offer a ‘gift’ to the fans.
