The incident took place in Gangenahalli village, Krishnarajpet Taluka in Mandya district in order to appease the god of rains as several parts of the state reportedly did not receive much rain.

In a bizarre incident, two boys in Karnataka were forced to marry each other as part of a symbolic gesture to appease the “rain gods” praying for showers in the area in Mandya district.

As part of the ritual, the villagers perform a two-boy marriage on Friday night and subsequently hold a feast to mark the festivities.

The incident took place in Ganginhali village, Krishnarajpet taluka in Mandya district in order to appease the god of rains as several parts of the state reportedly did not receive much rain as compared to last year causing severe damage to the crops.

“This was done as part of a ritual prayer to appease the rain gods and bring rain to the area by the villagers. A feast was also arranged after marriage.” Tell Ani.

“Weakness of monsoon rains in the state, so there is a shortage of rain compared to last year. Because of this, the people of the state resorted to celebrating ancient traditions.”

according to yearsTwo boys, dressed in traditional ritual attire, participated in the marriage ceremony as bride and groom.

Later, a feast was arranged and the meal was offered to the god of rains as an offering, and the locals prayed to him to bring rain and fill the shortage as the crops were affected due to the lack of rain.
