An Egyptian woman in a saree warmly welcomed Modi with a popular song ‘Yeh Dosti Hum Nahi Chhodenge’ from the movie ‘Sholay’
Prime Minister Narendra Modi was given a warm welcome upon his arrival in Cairo for a two-day state visit on Saturday. During this visit, he will hold talks with the Egyptian leadership, including President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
An Egyptian woman in a modi saree was warmly greeted by the popular song “Yeh Dosti Hum Nahi Chhodenge” from the movie “Sholay”. The Chief Minister was observed intently listening to the song and expressed his surprise when the woman revealed her limited knowledge of Hindi and having not visited India before.
“Kisi ko pata bhi nahi chalega ki aap Misr ki beti ho ya Hindustan ki beti ho “Nobody will be able to tell whether you are Egyptian or Indian,” Prime Minister Modi said.
When asked about her feelings after her performance in front of the Prime Minister, Gina expressed feeling “honoured” and said, “It was nice to meet Prime Minister Modi.”
She also stated that she has been singing Hindi songs since the age of 12-13, starting at the age of six.
At the invitation of President Sisi, Prime Minister Modi is currently on a visit to Egypt, which is the first bilateral visit by an Indian Prime Minister to the country in 26 years. Modi’s special gesture awaited him at the airport, where he received a warm hug from Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly. His arrival was also accompanied by an official welcome ceremony and a guard of honour.
I am confident that this visit will strengthen India’s relations with Egypt. Prime Minister Modi said on Twitter after his arrival in Cairo, “Looking forward to talks with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and attending other programmes.
