It was a double match on Saturday in the 2023 Tamil Nadu Premier League. Match 14 saw Nellai Royal Kings defeat Chepauk Super Gillies. In the 15th game, Sikhim Madurai Panthers saw a solid performance edge out the Salem Spartans.
The Nellai Royal Kings, with their win over the Chepauk Super Gillies, catapulted them to the top of the points table. They won four of their five matches and brought their total score to eight, with a net run average of +0.558. The Dindigul Dragons are placed below the Royal Kings with six points from their name from three matches.
Lyca Kovai Kings follows the Dragons who also have six points but a net run rate of +1.436. The Chepauk Super Gillies suffered their third loss of the 2023 TNPL and sit in fourth place in the points table. They have a net run rate of +0.485.
Sikhim Madurai Panthers scored their first victory in the tournament and moved into fifth place with two points off their name and a net run rate of -0.734. Salem Spartans and iDream Tiruppur Tamizhans follow the Panthers in the points table. Ba11sy Trichy continues to cycle down the points table.
In the fourteenth over, the Chepauk Super Gillies batted first and scored 159 on the board, courtesy of an impressive 79 from Baba Aparajith. M Poiyamozhi picked up three wickets for the Royal Kings.
In response, skipper Arun Karthik played a brilliant strike. He hit 10 fours five sixes to score 104 off 61 balls only to take his side across the line with seven balls to spare with eight wickets in hand.
The fifteenth match of TNPL 2023 saw an amazing bowling performance from Siechem Madurai Panthers. They threw great and knocked out the Salem Spartans over 98 in 19.4 overs.
Gurjapneet Singh grabbed three wickets and gave 15 runs. S Sri Abisek of the Panthers top-scored with 32 as they defeated the Spartans by seven wickets. They’ve chased the total in just 13 runs.
