Punjab Government on Monday appointed Class of 1993 IAS Officer Anurag Verma as Principal Secretary. Verma, who was serving as the State Home Secretary, succeeds the IAS Officer in the Class of 1989 F.C. Janjua, who retired on June 30.
The state government unsuccessfully sought to extend Janjua’s service by writing a letter to the center two months ago. Verma replaced 10 IAS officers, of which four were on central deputation, and two were already chief secretaries.
Among the seniors present in the central delegation are Feini Mahajan (Class of 1987), who retired on October 31, 2024; Anjali Bhaura (Class of 1988), whose retirement is scheduled for June 30, 2024; V K Singh (Class of 1990); Seema Jain (Class of 1991).
Others in the list of seniority published in Punjab, as Principal Trustees, are Anirudh Tiwari (Class of 1990, retired 30th April 2027), Anurag Agarwal (Class of 1990), A Venu Prasad (Class of 1991, retired 31st July), Sarvejit Singh (Class 1992), Raji P Shrivastava (Class of 1992) and KAP Sinha (Class of 1992). Tiwari was already chief secretary, and Janjua took his place.
