Today, Monday, the International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA) said that the 2023 Club World Cup will be held in the Saudi city of Jeddah.

The decision came after a FIFA delegation visited Jeddah last week to assess the ongoing preparations for the tournament.

“We are delighted that Jeddah, with its modern facilities and reputation for hosting major international sporting events, has been selected as the host city for the FIFA Club World Cup,” said AFC President Yasser Al-Mishal.

The tournament, which will be held from December 12 to 22, will be held in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the first time, as announced last February.

The 2023 Club World Cup will be the last of the current format – an annual seven-team competition – that will be discontinued before it is expanded to a 32-team event that will be held for the first time in 2025 in the United States.
