Sunil Kumar will lead the Indian team in the next Asian Kabaddi Championship 2023. The tournament will start today with India, the defending champion, facing Korea in its first match in Busan.
Kumar has not yet arrived in Busan due to visa issues. Hence, Vice-Captain Pawan Sehrawat will lead the Indian team in their first two matches in the 2023 Asia Kabaddi Championship.
Pawan Sehrawat and Sunil Kumar have done a great job as captains in the Pro Kabaddi League. While Sehrawat led the Bengaluru Bulls to the playoffs in seasons seven and eight, Kumar led the Jaipur Pink Panthers to victory in the ninth edition of the league.
It will be interesting to see how the Indian team performs under Sunil Kumar and Pawan Sihrwat. There are many fresh faces like Aslam Inamdar, Mohit Goyat and Naveen Kumar Goyat in India’s squad for Asia Kabaddi Championship 2023.
The Asian Kabaddi Championship will be held from June 27-30 in Busan. The first day will feature four matches, two of which India will participate in. Chinese Taipei will face the bronze medalist of the last edition in the first match, followed by a battle between India and Korea, which will start at 10:30 am IST.
Japan opens its campaign against Hong Kong in the third match. The final match of the first day will be between India and Chinese Taipei from 12:30 PM IST. While India will start as favorites to beat Chinese Taipei, the match against Korea will be a little tough.
Korea defeated India in the group stage of the 2016 Kabaddi World Cup. It will be exciting to see which team will come out on top in AKC 2023.
