Fabricio Andrade is still very serious when he said he wants the bantamweight title after his recent world title win over John Lineker at ONE Fight Night 7 last February.
The 25-year-old star announced his intentions during a post-fight interview, aiming to join the likes of Stamp Fairtex, Janet Todd, Sam-A Gaiyanghadao and Regian Eersel as players who have captured two world titles in separate disciplines.
Although that opportunity has yet to arrive, the Muay Thai bantamweight title changed hands after Jonathan Haggerty’s stunning knockout victory over Nong-O Hama at ONE Fight Night 9 in April this year.
And shortly after that shocking end to the high-profile ball, Haggerty opened up to some world title defences, including Fabricio Andrade, who is somewhat of an out-of-the-box pick in the world title conversation.
The Brazilian, who was present during the event inside the Lumpini Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, supposedly crossed paths with the Londoner backstage, but Hagerty said that not once did Andrade bring up any talks about a potential meeting between the two.
However, in a recent interview with the South China Morning Post during ONE Friday Fights 22, Fabricio Andrade opened up about what “The General” had to say after the Brit won the world title.
He said:
“I told him, ‘Well, now you’re the champ, and if you really want my warriors, now’s the time to make it happen.'” “

A shootout is all but guaranteed if these two are booked to meet on the world stage of the ONE Championship.
Haggerty has proven himself to be the true bantamweight king of the Muay Thai division. On the other hand, “Wonder Boy” has long been touted as the best puncher in MMA’s welterweight division – and he’s proved it with four knockouts in his past five matches.
