Prominent Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader Muhammad Salim said that the return of West Bengal would not have been possible without the revival of the left front. Salim said at a press conference on Wednesday in Kolkata. “The return of Bengalis is not possible without a revival of the left front… The focus of the media should not be on a corrupt party but on the people instead.”
He explained, “Corruption is widespread in the state in various fields, whether it is through hiring teachers, 100-day work, housing schemes, or children’s midday meals.” Salem, secretary of the party’s state unit, said many social welfare programs such as unemployment benefits and old-age pensions that were adopted during the Left Front’s rule were “stopped by the current TMC government.” “We want to break the link between corruption and criminals in the state,” he added.
