Intelligence sources told CNN-News18 on Thursday that the Canadian government is allowing Khalistani’s activities to rise to please local constituencies.

They said the idea behind this was to maintain a large workforce and advance their own interests.

The sources said they are mainly pushing the idea of Khalistan, Operation Blue Star and Jarnail Singh Bindrawal to the generation born after 1984.

They added that extremists have raised a large terrorist force inside Canada and are carrying out killings, bombings and non-governmental activities from there.

“Diplomatic channels have repeatedly failed on this issue, and the current waiver is not willing to help us with anything,” said an official.

The sources said that a number of judicial delegations and deportation requests are still pending with the Canadian authorities, but no response has been received.

A billboard commemorating the assassination of the late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi by her Sikh bodyguards has gone viral in Brampton, Canada, on June 4.

This show was organized by Khalistani groups on the 39th anniversary of Operation Blue Star. The Government of India expressed its strong disapproval and called this vote banking policy.

Khalistani’s operatives in Canada are not only involved in protests, but are also allegedly carrying out attacks and committing acts of violence with several cases being investigated by Indian agencies.

The sources said the accused, who are in Canada, are the masterminds behind the killings and terrorist activities in Punjab and other parts of India. They added that they are carrying out these tasks with the help of gangsters in the prisons of Delhi and Punjab.

Officials said several requests from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to extradite and deport terrorist operatives and pro-Khelistan elements are pending with the Canadian government but it is unwilling to cooperate in any investigation.

They said that these defendants are wanted in cases of terrorism, murder and other related crimes.

Sources said one of the main requests is for Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) member Lakhbir Singh Sandhu alias Landa (originally from Tarn Taran in Punjab), for whom the agency has announced a reward of Rs 15,000.

A close associate of Landa was arrested for allegedly carrying out the rocket-propelled grenade attack on the Punjab Police Intelligence Headquarters in Mohali in May 2022. Deepak was involved in several terrorist and violent criminal offences, including murder.

And Landa’s aide, Arshdeep Singh Gill, aka Arash Dala, is also in Canada and is associated with the Khalistan Tiger Force (KTF). The Interior Ministry designated Dallah on January 9 as an “individual terrorist”.

Hardeep Singh Nagar – a ‘designated’ terrorist with links to the outlawed Sikhs for Justice – was killed by two attackers in Surrey on 18 June.

In February, the National Intelligence Agency arrested six people linked to interconnected cases between terrorists, gangs and drug traffickers, including assistant Dala Lucky Khokhar, a resident of Bathinda (Punjab).

He provided arms and ammunition to the men of Dala in Punjab. Weapons were used to kill Paramjit Singh in Jagraon (Punjab) in January.

Another accused wanted by the agency is Canada resident Satwinderjeet Singh alias Goldie Brar, who is wanted in the murder of Pradeep Kumar, a henchman of Dera Sasha Soda, in Faridkot in November 2022. He is also working with Landa.

Officials said no action has been taken against elements such as the head of the SFJ in the US, Gurpatwant Singh Bannon, who is also making attempts to create societal disharmony using social media platforms.

He was booked by NIA in December 2020, along with Nijjar and Paramjit Singh Pamma who lives in the UK.

In response to a statement by Canada’s National Security Adviser, who called India one of the “most important sources of foreign interference in Canada,” Foreign Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar recently said that if anyone had a grievance, it was India.

The issue of Gulf separatism is complex and sensitive, officials said, and Canada must tread carefully to avoid damaging its relations with India and the Sikh community. They added that the Canadian government must realize that it has a responsibility to ensure the safety and security of its citizens, both at home and abroad.

With decisive action, intelligence officials said, Canada could break free of its image as the land of Khalistani, and set an example for other nations facing similar challenges.

They said Justin Trudeau’s dilemma over Gulf separatism is a challenge, but also an opportunity for Canada to show its commitment to peace, security and democracy.
