In the weeks following the movie’s premiere Vinland Saga In the Season 2 finale, fans focused on the apparent teasing of the anime continuation from Takahiko Abiru. Having served as the character designer and lead animation director for the second season, some considered the excitement of Thorfinn’s journey that was to go on as the official trailer for the third season.

While it remains to see how that file Vinland Saga The anime will continue (with a possible movie for sure), and it’s clear that fans aren’t ready to stop discussing the series just yet. This is somewhat unsurprising, given that the events of Season 2 created a cultural movement within the online community.

The ongoing discussion of the second season and speculation about what’s next in the anime Vinland Saga Fans to an interesting point of contention. It seems that for some, they can’t understand why Thorfinn left Iceland after being reunited with his family. Meanwhile, others treated him as a perfectly understandable choice.

Vinland Saga Fans were excited to analyze Thorfinn’s choice in pursuing Vinland over staying in Iceland

And we end it with Thorfinn with shorter hair and ready to leave Iceland and continue that Vinland saga.

As we saw in the last episode of Vinland Saga In the second season, Thorfinn and Einar trail behind Iceland in their quest to find a country within Vinland. This decision comes even after Thorfinn is reunited and spends time catching up with his family members, including his new nephews and nephews.

Many fans are unable to understand why Thorfinn left his home and family so easily after reuniting with them recently. After all, Thorfinn had been gone for over 16 years and was only going to spend two nights at best with his family before he, Einar, and Leif Ericson left for Vinland.

In response, another Vinland Saga Fans have pointed out what “Vinland” has meant to Thorfinn as a child and for the past 16 years. As a young boy, he heard Leif tell stories about Vinland – a beautiful, warm, green, fertile region well suited to farming. During his time as a slave, he constantly talks about Vinland and thinks of it as something to strive for and fight for, that is if he is to give up his role as a slave.

Thorfinn’s flight from Iceland to the beginning of the Baltic War arc!!! Thank you mappa goosebumps overload ✨

On top of that, there’s the fact that even though Thors moved his family to Iceland in an effort to escape the war-centric culture of the Vikings, that eventually came for him, too. With Thorfinn seeking to do the same by escaping from the Canute Empire, Iceland proves to still be within reach of what Thorfinn is trying to escape from. As it is, he could not create a land without war or slavery if Canute and the Vikings could still reach him.

As Thorfinn says during Vinland Saga Season 2 tells him that he wants to build more homes, plant more fields than he burned, and revive more lives than he took. Obviously, this cannot be achieved in the harsh climate of Iceland, where farmland is sparse. However, by leaving Iceland for Vinland, both young Thorfinn and adult Thorfinn can make their dreams come true.

in combination

The main reasons why Thorfinn left his family in Iceland in search of Vinland all stemmed from his personal goals and dreams. As a child, he longed for adventure. He specifically expresses his desire to find Vinland alongside Lief. As an adult, actively participating in the rigors of war, Thorfinn wants to atone for his sins in a way that obscures what Iceland has to offer him.
