Former West Indies captain Chris Gayle believes the 2023 ODI World Cup will not be the last for former India captain Virat Kohli.
“Virat Kohli still has another World Cup in him. I don’t think this will be his last World Cup. I think he has another World Cup in him. India are favourites, and they play at home too. So, it will be very interesting. We want to see the team Which they will actually choose,” Gayle told The Times of India.
With India set to host the World Cup, there has already been speculation as to whether the upcoming match will be the last for Kohli, who won the 2011 edition, in an ODI-format world championship.
“Virat Kohli (now) is wearing the shoes of Sachin Tendulkar. The way he plays, he talks, he takes care of others and the way he plays cricket with his passion, he is now. Everyone was looking forward to winning the World Cup for Virat Kohli,” said Virender Sehwag during an ICI event. Cricket to announce the world cup schedule.
Gill, who was part of the Windies team that appeared in the recent World Cup hosted by India, also spoke about the much-anticipated India-Pakistan showdown and that cricketers should demand more money for the same match.
“When these teams play, especially in the World Cup, the revenue you make is enormous. One game can take care of the entire ICC event. Pakistani and Indian players must be asking for a lot of money for those games because these games are pay TV games.
“I don’t control the board or the ICC. If I were in their situation, I would want more,” Gayle said.
