The Gujarat High Court on Friday adjourned to July 21 the hearing of a review application filed by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in connection with Gujarat University’s petition on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s education certificates after Advocate General Tushar Mehta requested more time.

Kejriwal sought a review of the Supreme Commission’s order in March as the court allowed Gujarat University’s petition and overturned an order by the Central Information Commission (CIC) directing the university to “seek information” regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s educational grades.

Kejriwal’s review petition notes that while the court recorded that Modi’s score is available on the university’s website following submissions made by S.G. Mehta on behalf of the university, “based on a survey of said website … (it was found) that ‘degree’ is not available, but is displayed Document referred to as OR (Office Register).

Kejriwal asserted that displaying the ‘degree’ on the university’s official website serves as the initial and main basis for the request to review the previous court order. He claimed that with the degree not available on the site, the referee would therefore “suffer from the error apparent on the face of the record, and allowing it would result in a failure of justice.”

The HC had issued a notice to the GU on June 9, after which the designee submitted his response regarding the allegations raised in the review request.

Kejriwal, in turn, filed commentary on GU’s affidavit on Friday. Mehta indicated to the Court of Justice Pirin Vaishnav on Friday that he would need time to consider the response.

“There is no difficulty in arguing but without knowing what (Kejriwal in his response) said (it would be difficult) because we found from the very beginning that irresponsible remarks are being made, maybe they are in this affidavit too,” Mehta said.
