The Untouchable/ST Cell of the Kheda District Police launched an investigation into the brutality and criminal intimidation after the coordinator of a midday meal in a primary school filed a complaint on Friday alleging that Sarpanch Village and another accomplice abused and assaulted her and threatened to expel her. of her job because she belongs to the ‘lower caste’.
Susheela Vankar (40), who works as a mid-day meal co-ordinator at Kshetra Primary School, has filed a complaint against Sarpanch Ishwar Chauhan and panchayat member Ramesh Chauhan at Kheda Township Police Station alleging that the duo heaped insults on her and assaulted her. Her on June 27 when she intervened in their fight with her husband Surjitsinh Vankar.
“Around 11 am on the 27th of June, I was at work as usual, supervising the midday meal program along with my assistant and the cook. When I heard the sounds of a fight, I came out of the (Kshetra) school and saw the accused involved in a fight with my husband. When I intervened, they pushed me I was knocked down, causing my hands and back to hurt, and they also abused me with caste insults,” Sushila stated in her complaint.
She alleged that the duo threatened to kill her husband and make her unemployed. “They told me that the students who study in the school belong to the upper class and that they will not allow the students to eat the food I give me… They also threatened to kill my husband and teach us a lesson,” the FIR recalled.
The Kheda Town Police detained the accused under various sections of the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act 1989, as well as the Indian Penal Code for causing voluntary harm (323), willful insult to provoke breach of peace. (504), criminal intimidation (506 (2)), abettor present at the commission of the crime (114).
According to the FIR, Susheela has been attached to the midday meal program in the village school since 2004. Senior police officers said that the initial investigation revealed that the accused and the complainant had a “personal rivalry”. The accused have not yet been arrested.
