The Army said here on Saturday that a strong and dynamic security network is complete with the deployment of snipers, anti-drone systems, bomb disposal and dog teams to ensure the safety and security of the Amarnath Yatra.

Yatra started from the twin paths of Paltal and Pahalgam. Baltal is located in Ganderbal district in central Kashmir and Pahalgam in Anantnag district in the south.

“The Indian Army has traditionally been involved in ensuring the safety and security of the yatra for pilgrims. This year too, the Army has worked with all other stakeholders to create a robust and dynamic security network for the Shri Amarnathji Yatra,” Army 3rd Rashtriya Rifles Commander Brigadier Atul Rajput told reporters here.

He said that the army has put in place multi-level security arrangements that include controlling the mountains, sterilizing the Yatra road, and controlling the area around the clock using the latest night vision devices.

He pointed out that the army’s special forces monitor the Yatra road from distinct locations. “We have also deployed snipers, anti-drone systems, bomb disposal and dog teams to ensure the safety and security of the Yatra,” the commander said.

Brigadier Rajput said the army has reinforced several yatra camps with suitable tenting facilities to provide additional habitat.

“We have also provided helipads at multiple locations for medical emergencies and to meet other air transportation requirements of the yatra,” he added.

He said a nation-wide approach to unite efforts has been taken, and the military has provided its expertise in mountain rescue to civilian agencies and trained mountain rescue and avalanche rescue teams from various agencies.

“In addition, we have conducted joint drills and mock drills to ensure smooth and successful rescue operations, if and when required,” the Army officer said.

He said that based on cloudburst experiences during last year’s elytra, rescue teams and earthmovers have been placed in the sacred cave and multiple locations on their way for any emergencies.

He added that modern equipment is also available for effective response and to meet any emergency situations.

Brigadier Rajput said, “We assure you that till the time his yatra returns from his pious visit to Shri Amarnath, we, the Indian Army, are here to ensure your security, safety and well-being always and every time.
