In a landmark decision, the government of Jammu and Kashmir approved a proposal to allocate 5 marla of land to each of the landless beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin.

To date, 2,711 landless families have been awarded and more will be covered soon.
“A total of 199,550 homeless families have been identified and as of June 21, 144,000 families have been penalized while the rest will also be covered,” Sinha said.
The Ministry of Rural Development has set an additional target of 199,550 J&K homes for the 2023-2024 fiscal year to saturate the permanent and 2018-19 waiting list.
The Government of Jammu and Kashmir is committed to all-round development. This move will open countless opportunities for the poor and the downtrodden, and with this historic decision, the administration acknowledges their enormous contribution to the nation-building mission.”
