Peshawar: N Peshawar High Court He rejected a petition claiming the legendary actor’s estate Haveli Raj Kapoor in the city. The house was declared a national heritage by the provincial government in 2016.
The court denied the petition in light of a previous ruling of the same court related to the acquisition of the legendary actor Dilip Kumar Haveli in Peshawarwhich has also been declared a national heritage.
The petitioner told the court that his family had bought the mansion during an auction in 1969. His lawyer claimed that there were no documents proving that the late Raj Kapoor and his family lived or owned this property. However, the court said the matter should be taken to a civil court.
The mansion is in a dilapidated state and its current owners want to demolish it and create a commercial square. However, the Department of Antiquities halted all such movements considering their historical significance.
