Imprisoned gangster Sunil Balian aka Tellu Tagpuria, who was He was beaten to death by rival gangs inside Tihar Jail On Tuesday, he’s the head of the infamous Tellu Gang for more than a decade. Police said Tello was murdered by four men, all members of Joji’s gang, inside Prison No. 8, where they were all housed. The rivalry between Gogi and Tellu gangs dates back to 2010 and has claimed more than 20 lives, including the gang leaders.
In December 2021, Tello allegedly sent assailants who shot Jitendra Man (Jogi gang leader) inside Rohini court during a hearing. The men are arrested, and an indictment is drawn up against Tello and his associates for planning and executing the crime.
Police officers said that Tilo and Jogi were once friends, but the two became rivals during the student union elections at Swami Shradhanand College in Delhi. Police said they supported different candidates and put up a fight. Over the next decade, the two men and their gang members targeted each other in the name of guerrilla warfare and territory dominance.
The gangster came from Tajpur village, which is a hub for local gangsters. According to the police, he had relations with notorious gangsters Neeraj Pawani, Sunil Bali, Chinu and others. He was arrested in 2016 after being involved in more than 11 cases of murder, weapons law, extortion, robbery, etc. He was also booked by the Delhi Police Special Cell under the Maharashtra Organized Crime Control Act (MCOCA).
Police said Tello ran his gang from prison for years and orchestrated several killings. He is survived by his parents and three siblings. His father was working in Delhi Municipal Corporation and had recently retired.
Sources said that Tello is involved in murder and lawsuit cases in Delhi and Haryana. In 2015-2016, Gogi, along with gangster Kuldeep Fajja, were plotting to eliminate Tillu and made several attempts to send his accomplices to jail for killing Tillu. However, Joji and Faja are arrested by the police, and their plan fails. Although Fajja is released from police custody at GTB Hospital by the gang members, he is later killed in a police encounter. Jogi is killed in a shootout in Rohini court.
